1. When the other boys at school tell him that all girls have cooties and he should stay away, Owen tells them it isn’t true. Not ALL girls, at least. (He’s not sure about that Cassandra girl.) After all, he’d NEVER let Beth get cooties. What sort of brother would he be then?
2. Owen realises that he’s met the woman he wants to marry when she eats the bottom of her chocolate muffin and passes the top to him, unprompted. He still asks Beth for her opinion before he makes any proper decisions though, of course.
3. One day, Owen will inherit his Da’s watch. It used to belong to his grandfather, and even though Colin never wore it much, Owen knows it means a lot to him. Someday Owen will pass it on to his youngest son.
